Wiki Fail

wiki_logoUniveristies and schools remain sniffy about Wikipedia as a factual resource even though I remember reading an article a few years ago about how Wikipedia proved more reliable than some printed sources like the Encyclopedia Britannica under certain fact-test conditions.

However, fact-vandalism does happen and errors do creep through. Today I was checking out a fact on the Wikipeida page about Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Ole Oak Tree.

I don't need any more checking to know that this is, at best, dubious:

This is obvious and easy to avoid putting a clanger in your quiz - but it makes you wonder how long some more subtle fact-vandalism could linger on a page before being checked and corrected.
